Working in West Point
West Point sits on the Chattahoochee River at the Alabama line, mostly in Troup County with a small piece in Harris County. It had 3,719 people in 2020.
The name comes from the river: this is about where the Chattahoochee stops running southwest and turns due south to form the state line. Before that, the area was known as Miller's Bend.
Kia opened its car plant in West Point in 2009. West Point Lake, north of town, was made by the Army Corps of Engineers when it built West Point Dam.
I-85 runs through the city, roughly halfway between Atlanta and Montgomery. Dead batteries in plant lots, flats on the interstate and lake trips gone wrong are the kind of calls we expect here.
From LaGrange we come down I-85 or US-29, so spots near either road are the easiest to reach. If you're near the river or the state line, tell us which side you're on so we head to the right place.
