Working in Franklin

Franklin is the Heard County seat, a small town of 950 people in 2020 on the Chattahoochee River. It's named after Benjamin Franklin and became county seat in 1831.

US-27 bypasses the east side of town: 19 miles south to LaGrange and 23 miles north to Carrollton. GA-34 runs through the center, 20 miles northeast to Newnan, and GA-100 runs 14 miles southeast to Hogansville.

The 1912 Heard County Jail is on the National Register of Historic Places and is now a museum run by the Heard County Historical Society.

Much of Heard County is rural, so a tow can take a while. A mechanic who comes to you can often fix a battery, starter or brake problem right where the car sits.

Out on county roads, give us the road name, the nearest crossroad and a landmark such as a church or a store. Battery, starter and brake work are all good fits here.
